Boomer Esiason rips Vince Young
Daily News staff
The piling on by the national media and NFL analysts about Vince Young's "Dream Team" comment continued with former quarterback Boomer Esiason.
"If I'm Vince Young trying to resurrect my career, I keep my mouth shut," Esiason told USA Today. "This is a guy who cried on the bench down in Tennessee when he was being booed. If he thinks those Tennessee fans were tough, he better hope Michael Vick doesn't get hurt for an extended period of time. Because if he ends up getting the ball, and goes out there and plays like he did in Tennessee, the Philly fans will run him completely out of town."
Esiason added that Philadelphia has "one of the most passionate, toughest fan bases in football." The best thing Young "can do is button up just don't say anything and learn as best you can from Michael Vick how you can resurrect your career."
Since the comments were publicized, Young has said his remarks were taken out of context, although he was not surprised by all the attention.

Offensive tackle Ryan Harris underwent back surgery this week for a herniated disc. His injury was one of the things that forced the Eagles into making changes on the right side of the line, moving Todd Herremans to right tackle from left guard.
"Thanks for all the well wishes and positivity," Harris wrote on Twitter. "I am doing good and will be ready to play this year in no time."
Harris also said that he will be playing this year, calling reports that he was going on IR "greatly exaggerated."

The Eagles will not have to worry about the Sports Illustrated cover jinx, although Nnamdi Asomugha was on the cover a few weeks ago after he signed with the team.
The six regional covers for the Sept. 5 NFL Preview—on newsstands Wednesday—feature Curtis Lofton (Falcons), Jerod Mayo (Patriots), Calvin Pace (Jets), Lamarr Woodley (Steelers), Clay Matthews (Packers) and DeMarcus Ware (Cowboys).
King's Super Bowl prediction is Atlanta 24, San Diego 20.
King correctly predicted last year that Pittsburgh and Green Bay would meet in the Super Bowl.

So we should listen to one guy who never won anything talk about another guy who never won anything? Give me a break Boomer...must have been all those sacks on the hard Three Rivers Stadium turf. And KKKKAC...thanks for the psychology lesson. Just kidding, well put! Just remember, if your trying to give a logical explanation to an Eagles fan, nine times out of ten it will be missed completely! Joe
Vince Young made an off-the-cuff comment about how much he liked the team he'd joined. He's not responsible for Boomer and half the sports media pretending it was an announcement to the league. armchairGM
Vince Young never won anything--except a national championship. He literally won it for Texas. 4philly4ever
Joe is wrong--and apparently stupid. 4philly4ever

I'm not a fan of Vince Young, but Boomer is kinda of an old stick-in-the-mud who is hard to take seriously.
And I say this as an old stick-in-the-mud.

I am not defending Vince Young, but who is Boomer who lost the Super Bowl to the San Francisco 49ers. I don't remember anything outstanding about his career. gaphillyfan
I don't take much stock in Peter King. He predicted the Bears in the Super Bowl 2 years ago and said the Eagles would get a number 1 pick for McNabb amongst 2 things I can remember off the top of my head. watsonmr
a guy with a winning but sometimes tumultuous past is excited to join a good team as a back up.Some of the media and many who post made wayyy too much out of it. He's a BACK UP and knew it coming in. I've never seen soo much attention given to an 'off the cuff' statement from a second stringer !! Any opposing team who needs that as motivation when they play the eagles is already afraid of them. bleedgreen
