Bobby Taylor planning comeback?

Former Eagles cornerback Bobby Taylor, who has not played in the NFL since 2004, is looking to make a comeback, according to Brad Briggs, of the National Football Post. Taylor is telling current and former players that he plans to contact teams in the next week or two. Taylor, 36, has been working out in Houston and is looking for a team in need of a third or fourth cornerback and would be willing to play safety, Biggs said.

Is this nuts? Well, yes.  Nobody is going to sign a skill position player who hasn't been on a football field in six years. Teams weren't interested in Bobby in 2005. What has changed for the better in five years? Maybe he's been watching tape of Asante Samuel and figures "Hey, if you can tackle like that and still be in the Pro Bowl ..."

Taylor was drafted by the Eagles in the second round in 1995 out of Notre Dame and was with the Birds until 2003. He spent the 2004 season with Seattle before being released.

More on Vick

USA Today is conducting a poll this morning about whether you believe Michael Vick's statement. In the early going, 48 pecent say "No, there is no way he is totally clean on this." Another 18 percent say, "No, his lips were moving."

On the positive side, 19 percent said, "Yes, we need to drop this now" an 16 percent said "Yes, but his actions were foolish."

Public opinion has to weigh on NFL comissioner Roger Goodell, as he figures out how to proceed with Vick. The quarterback does not need to be implicated or have charges filed against him in order for Goodell to act. The comissioner was clear with how small a margin for error Vick had to work with when he reinstated him last year. From all parties, it seems clear that Vick used poor judgement in going along with this open-to-the-public-for-a-fee, late night birthday bash.

The Daily News asked an NFL spokesman about whether the league could or would take action against Vick before Virginia Beach police finished their investigation. The spokesman said the league would have no comment beyond that it was still gathering the facts.

If Goodell suspends or bans Vick without clear evidence he was involved in the shooting, though, that will surely open a legal can of worms, not to mention raising the issue of whether Vick will have been dealt with fairly.

Don't see Bobby Taylor playing in the NFL again. 36 yr olds (especially ones that have been out of the league for 6 years) aren't fast enough for safety, and I don't think Taylor was ever physical enough for safety.

If the Eagles back him!And you comment negative towards Michael Vick? You should look in the mirror!Let's wait and give this man his facts! Your talking about Virgina Beach? If you were there then your statements are facts! But if your wrong or were not there?Someone just has an ongoing problem.Give him the fair chance, instead of feeding voltures=press.Remember all the stories have 3 sides to them.Wait!back your players!Eagles are? Virgina Beach?Lol!

Phily-has-a-lack-of-sanity, I haven't insulted anyone on this blog, however I will say this first I don't live in the "hood" and I don't know whether or not you have lied to the police, but I am more than certain you have lied to someone, whether its the police or not makes no difference a lie is still a lie. For the past week all that has been written about this situation is pure speculation and hear say. Facts have not been released, as far as what Vick said to the police, how do you know what he and the police discussed since the facts haven't been released, nor has the details of the discussion between Vick and the detective been released. If Vick left that party 30 minutes, 15 minutes or even right down to 1 minute, what difference does it make if he wasn't there. So I guess we are to assume if you were at a party and then left, and someone was hurt after your leaving, at which time you were asked "how long were you gone before this happened" you would be able to answer that question right down to the minute................sure you would. The media all but has accused Vick of being involved in this shooting, that is why all the reports are about what someone else says (hesay, shesay). I find it odd that all of you nay sayers and haters, will jump for the keyboard everytime you hear the name Michael Vick. I am willing to bet Ben Roethlisberger is glad this is going on with Vick, in order to take the media out his life...................Oh I forgot they were never in his life, why weren't they in Ben's life......................facts hadn't been released.

Bobby "gotta keep my uni clean" Taylor is better suited for a flag league somewhere. Come to think of it, I've seen more physical play from guys in bar leagues, than this ND scrub EVER showed whilst in philly. I get the feeling that the media in town is dying for something to write about. Hang in there for another year, 6 months from now WIP and its mindless followers will be beating the drum for Kafka. Book it!

CHARMAINE- what crime was Big Ben convicted of? how much jail time did he serve? oh right the answer to both is none. I guess Kobe should be thought of as the same kind of guy as big ben right? two innocent guys who tried to get played by evil whor*s. comparing Ben to a convicted felon shows just how much you play the race card for NO REASON. go join Al and Jesse with this form of thinking

Saw the headline figured he was going to coach but PLAY, in the NFL. Can you say Tuskers? Maybe he should think about joining his old teammate Hollis Thomas with the Nighthawks in the league for the +35 guys.

charmaine, this is beyond a second chance. He has repeatedly shown poor judgment and continues to give nothing but lip service. What he did was not some innocent mistake, he took meticulous measures to hide and then cover up his actions while running a dog killing service which shows premeditation. I have lied before, but never bought a house under my mothers name so I could wantonly perpetrate my lie. THE ARE LEVELS
