Sometimes the trends go in the Eagles' favor, and sometimes they don't ...
Here is one that doesn't look so good -- assuming you believe in these things -- and it looks even worse when you consider how bad the Birds are scuffling right now.
The Eagles are 3-6 in the week before the bye under Andy Reid. That includes losses in six of the last seven.
Of course, they are 9-0 in the week after the bye, so look out Falcons.
Asked last year at this time why the Eagles seemed to struggle before the bye, the coach said: "We just haven't played very well. We've got to play better."
Right about now, to Eagles fans, that sounds an awful like "I have to do a better job of putting the players in position to make plays."
In other news as noted by profootballtalk.com, Redskins running back Clinton Portis did an interview on the Dan Patrick Show in which he was asked to rank the quarterback in the NFC East.
1. Eli Manning
2. Tony Romo
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Jason Campbell
He ranked his own QB last, but mentioned that Campbell was flying underthe radar and it would be better if it stayed that way. Interesting strategy, although not too sure folks around here would agree with those rankings right about now.
