Birds missing Chung again today

The free-agent signees from last offseason have been a mixed bag, at best. Safety Patrick Chung is inactive today for the fourth time in eight games, with a shoulder injury.

Safety Patrick Chung, listed as questionable Friday for today's game against the Giants, is inactive, the Eagles announced.

The veteran safety from Oregon, considered an important piece of the puzzle when the Eagles signed him as a free agent from New England last spring, now has missed four of eight games. Earl Wolff, whose development probably has been everything the Birds could expect from a fifth-round rookie, will again start in Chung's spot.

The other Eagles inactives are as expected: QB Nick Foles, RB Matthew Tucker, LB Jake Knott, OT Matt Tobin, OT Dennis Kelly and DL Damion Square.

The absence of special teams stalwart Knott with a hamstring injury means Emmanuel Acho will appear in his first NFL game, less than a week after rejoining the Eagles from the Giants' practice squad.

The Giants are without RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) and DT DShaun Rogers (knee).

As expected, Michael Vick will start at quarterback for the Eagles.
