Roseman: Reid to run coordinator search from Philly

Much of the NFL world is heading to Mobile, Ala., to evaluate potential draft picks as practices for the Senior Bowl begin today.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was heading there this morning.

Of course, the other big issue for the Eagles is the search for a defensive coordinator.

Roseman said this morning that process will be run by coach Andy Reid in Philadelphia.

The Eagles now have access to the coaches from the Bears and Jets, if they are interested.

Last week, Juan Castillo was reportedly "in the mix" for the offensive coordinator job with Cleveland.

The Plain Dealer reports this morning that Castillo is not a candidate for the opening on Pat Shurmur's staff. Shurmur is a former Eagles assistant.

"I'm still an Eagle," Castillo said when he saw a Philadelphia reporter at registration at the Senior Bowl.

As we reported Friday, the Browns had not asked the Eagles for permission to talk to Castillo.

Former Arizona defensive coordinator Bill Davis has joined the defensive staff of the Cleveland Browns, according to Tony Grossi, of the Plain Dealer.

Davis was among the initial names listed as a candidate for the Eagles' defensive coordinator position, although he was never believed to be a serious candidate. Davis, whose father worked for the Eagles, had called the Eagles about the opening, rather than the team seeking him out, according to sources.

Davis interviewed last week for the defensive coordinator spot in Cleveland, which eventually went to Eagles senior assistant and defensive backs coach Dick Jauron. Now, he will be working under Jauron.

More to come later from the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
