Bigger deal: Vick's return or Favre's?
Daily News staff
Vick or Favre? Which one was the bigger story nationally?
According to Nielsen Buzzmetrics, which measures the mention of a topic in all blogs in the country, Michael Vick's deal with the Eagles was mentioned in nearly 25 percent of blogs, while Brett Favre's was mentioned in 18 percent, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The Eagles announced the Vick signing on Aug. 13. Favre told the Vikings he was coming out of retirement to join them on Aug. 18.
Despite all the attention Vick's return to an NFL regular-season game garnered last week, it is Packers-Vikings on "Monday Night Football," so the ESPN machine will be pumping at full steam.

Michael Vick was in Southwest Washington, D.C., yesterday to speak at a church about his past and continue his appearances in conjunction with the Humane Society of America.
Vick hit on familiar themes from past events, although this time his message was not specifically delivered to a group of youngsters. He has made two public appearances in Philadelphia at schools. The Humane Society also wants Vick to speak at churches, especially in the inner city.
"I didn't care what I was doing," Vick said, according to the Washington Post. "I didn't care about what was happening or if I got caught or exposed. I never thought about the animals. I was only interested in my own amusement. Something so pointless. I can't even comprehend why I did it."

The speculation about Vick's future with the Eagles continue, especially among the NFL national pundits.
"I don't believe he will be a Philadelphia Eagle next year because of his contract status," Boomer Esiason said Sunday on the NFL Today. "They'll have to pay him over $5 million if they want to keep him. I do believe he will be a starting quarterback in this league, and it will be on another team."

Kevin Kolb will be named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 24-for-34, 327-yard, two-touchdown performance against Kansas City, the Eagles said.
Kolb is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 300 yards in his first two starts.
Kolb now must go back to watching Donovan McNabb play, with McNabb apparently healed from a broken rib suffered in the season opener.
Vick is a THUG on a losing team whose coach has 2 sons who are ex-cons in a city where 5 killings in a night is not unusual. Typical Eagles fans are stupid, loud, and blindly loyal. McNabb is a has-been who gave away his own dogs (yes, I know that for a fact). Lurie, with all his billions, can't get the Super Bowl he is dying for. Vick fits in perfectly. padogsrule
Comment removed.- Don't care but obviously Favre is the bigger news. He is a better QB. We DO NOT need Vick. He is just a distraction. If I am a DC, everytime I see Vick I play the run. He can't pass beyond 5 yds.

Eilex826, you got it right. You don't have to take my word for it. Like I said, read for yourself and make up your own mind about the wiff. Nice to have another New Yorker on the site. NYC or upstate? tpizza
