After Eagles coach Andy Reid hinted Wednesday he was in no hurry to move Demetress Bell aside for King Dunlap at left tackle, Bell confirmed he practiced with the first team, an arrangement he hopes will continue as the Birds prepare to visit Pittsburgh Sunday.
Dunlap returned to practice after two weeks out with a hamstring problem.
One caveat: Right guard Danny Watkins didn't practice Wednesday, though Reid didn't mention Watkins in his prepractice injury rundown. After practice, the Eagles listed Watkins as having not practiced, with the notation "chest." Watkins was on the field but not participating during the 10 minutes reporters were allowed to watch practice. It seems likely that Dunlap, who came into training camp as the top sub at guard and tackle, took reps for Watkins Wednesday.
"It means a lot. That's what they brought me here for, right?" said Bell, signed as a free agent in March after Jason Peters tore his Achilles'. "I expect that to be my job."
Reid indicated that Bell played well Sunday against the Giants, which he said "bides me a little time to see how King is doing."
