Banner on McNabb intro, trade provisions

POSTED: Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 7:18 PM

Dan Gross, of Philly Gossip fame, was at the Marian Anderson awards ceremony tonight at the Kimmel Center and spoke with Eagles president Joe Banner ...

Banner was more than an interested observer when Donovan McNabb had his introductory news conference with the Washington Redskins today.

Asked his impressions after watching on television, Banner said, “He’s Donovan. He’s a great guy. He’s professional. That’s who he is.”

He also confirmed an ESPN report about the provisions of the trade that are “tied to how he plays,” Banner said.

The Eagles received the Redskins’ second-round pick this year and a conditional fourth-round pick next year.

The fourth-round pick can become a third-rounder if one of two conditions are met: McNabb is selected to the Pro Bowl or the Redskins win at least nine games with McNabb playing at least 70 percent of the snaps.

So, do we want him to win and get the 3rd or lose and get the 4th rounder? I guess settle for the 4th.

Now if only someone would trade Reid and Banner, it'd be just perfect. These clowns are ruining the team........

Mcnabb will make the pro bowl the same way he made it last year, because the rest of the country thinks he's John Elway.

When they say selected for the Pro Bowl do they mean when Farve says he has an injury, Romo has an injury, Manning has an injury, Brees is in the Super Bowl again ... and then they "Select 3" or does he have to be one of the initial selections? Weren't you almost an alternate in Miami Les?

Hey, with this second round pick lets go and get Quinton Caver or Matt McCoy. Maybe another Freddie Mitchell with just be sitting there waiting or another Jerome McDougal will fall so we can trade up. What have the eagles done to improve the D? I still miss Dawk.

Should have kept Donovan and got rid of Reid. He cannot coach a team to the superbowl. Time for new, young leader.

Do any of you morons remember what life was like as an Eagles fan before Reid and McNabb? I'll be rooting hard for Kolb to take us to a title, but I appreciate the best decade in Eagles' history that we have experienced. Love or hate McNabb, he has been a class act all the way and I wish him well. I hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

Everybody including the waterboy (and Jon Dorenbos) makes the Pro Bowl as long as it's after the Super Bowl. If he stays healthy and smiles enough, he'll get an invite
