It figured Andy Reid would take some of his assistants with him to Kansas City -- it was no shock when Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Pederson became the Chiefs' offensive coordinator Friday -- but the staff list released by the Chiefs did contain some surprises.

Reid's son Britt, a graduate assistant at Temple, is going to the Chiefs as a quality control coach. Britt is most known by Eagles fans for being arrested, the same day in 2007 as his older brother Garrett, after separate traffic incidents that involved drug charges. Garrett Reid died of a drug overdose at Eagles training camp last Aug. 5. Britt Reid coached three years at Temple, where his brother Spencer is now a running back. Britt graduated from Temple this year, and was married in the summer.

Also making the journey west are Tommy Brasher, the 72-year-old defensive line coach who came out of retirement last month when Jim Washburn was fired, wide receivers coach David Culley, tight ends coach Tom Melvin, quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy (who was a quality control coach with the Eagles) strength coach Barry Rubin and Rubin assistant Travis Crittenden.

Head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder is expected to sign on with the Chiefs as well.

Culley and Melvin were original members of Reid's 1999 staff, as was Brasher, though Brasher retired to become a consultant with the team in 2005.

Reports indicated Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg interviewed with the Jets yesterday.

I thought I read somewhere that Reid named Juan his offensive line coach. I guess I dreamt it.

As a season ticket holder since 1987, let me express graditide on behalf of my fellow Chiefs brethren with the decision of Andy Reid to become the HC of my Chiefs.

Welcome Andy, his staff, etc., when the Chiefs come calling this season at Philly. It will be a helluva better team than what was displayed this season, no doubt.

No Childress or Shurmer for his new staff? Both served under Reid as offensive coaches, and are out in the market. Must be some bad blood brewing somewhere between Reid and former coaches.

KC will make the playoffs before the Eagles so go ahead and act like petulent children. You deserve everything you get.

They MIGHT make the playoffs, but they will NEVER win the Superbowl with Reid as head coach!

While I don't expect much from Reid in KC, I don't think you should be immediately writing off Pederson as OC. Career backup qb - qb coach - OC is a pretty standard career path for good OCs.

    Just sayin.

Good business people surround themselves with those good or better than them and Reid continues to purposely do the opposite. He has "C" players at best around him at all times. You would have thought he learned his lesson the past few years in Philly.

KC has no idea what a hot mess it just got into. Buffet owners must be thrilled.

Somebody call Andy Reid and tell him he doesn't have DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Macklin, Bret Celek, Jason Avant and Clay Harbor.
