Andy Takes Position Coaches, Son

It figured Andy Reid would take some of his assistants with him to Kansas City -- it was no shock when Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Pederson became the Chiefs' offensive coordinator Friday -- but the staff list released by the Chiefs did contain some surprises.

Reid's son Britt, a graduate assistant at Temple, is going to the Chiefs as a quality control coach. Britt is most known by Eagles fans for being arrested, the same day in 2007 as his older brother Garrett, after separate traffic incidents that involved drug charges. Garrett Reid died of a drug overdose at Eagles training camp last Aug. 5. Britt Reid coached three years at Temple, where his brother Spencer is now a running back. Britt graduated from Temple this year, and was married in the summer.

Also making the journey west are Tommy Brasher, the 72-year-old defensive line coach who came out of retirement last month when Jim Washburn was fired, wide receivers coach David Culley, tight ends coach Tom Melvin, quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy (who was a quality control coach with the Eagles) strength coach Barry Rubin and Rubin assistant Travis Crittenden.

Head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder is expected to sign on with the Chiefs as well.

Culley and Melvin were original members of Reid's 1999 staff, as was Brasher, though Brasher retired to become a consultant with the team in 2005.

Reports indicated Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg interviewed with the Jets yesterday.

I'm more worried about what our Coaching Staff will look like, than Arrogant Andy's Circus Staff in KC! The sooner the Philadelphia Media stops writing about him, the quicker this Team will heal!

The good thing is that Reid is attracting his harem of losers like Jupiter did to Comet Shoemaker-Levy in 1994.

    Good riddance you bums!

See anybody on that list that you hate to see leave? Me neither. Looks like he hasn't learned anything about employing his children.

omg that is a train wreck of a staff. it really proves it was time for a change. andy cannot attract any coordinators worth having. (see spags from last year) and i agree with a post above....i actually feel really, really bad for KC fans because they are so excited about reid.

If the Chiefs add a QB and there will be some quality veterans available, they could easily be a 9-10 win team under Reid playing a last place schedule. Reid was the OC here(and argue if you will but the Eagle basically lived in the top 5 in points scored) so the only hire that matters is the DC. Castillo was good O-line coach and would be a good hire. The hardest position to fill is the OC/DC spot. One of them gets filled by the head coach so he just needs assistants but how do you get an impact guy on the other side of the ball? The issue is that when you hire a HC, you can get guys from other teams bc they are getting promoted but its a lot harder with the coordinators bc you can't poach them so you have to guess that the linebacker coach from another team can make the leap or get guy without a job. Going from a position coach to the guy that makes scheme is a way bigger leap than Co to HC.

If you look at philly.com achieves* you will find that in 2007 Britt Reid was arrested after a traffic accident where he was under the influence of heroin and had pointed a hand gun at the other driver. When he was prosecuted after a search of his vehicle and his father's home found Britt to be in possession of substantial quantities of CDS including steroids and a pharmacist's scale..

Considering your new coach repeating his flaunting of his nepotism power with prior disastrous results in disregard of NFL Drug and Security Policies dont you think he has some explaining to do for this hiring to both the fans and Mr. Hunt? Is Britt going to be subject to random drug tests or is he miraculously cured of his heroin addiction? What's the Chiefs policy on hiring convicted felons to mgt positions?

AlwaysRight, if I was a Chiefs fan or part of the KC media, I'd be pretty upset and asking lots of questions on how Reid's son qualifies to be on an NFL coaching staff.Reid and McNabb were really made for each other. Just as Mcnabb makes dumb statements, Reid makes stupid hires.

Good to see Britt Reid "earn" a job with an NFL team. Hopefully the hire doesn't result in another steroid scandal that gets covered up by the NFL and local authorities. IF Morningmoron was good enough to be offensive coordinator here why wasn't that clown offered a job as well? Oh well ... another bright side of the Reid family leaving town is the crime rate in Montgomery County will drop.

The Chiefs will be a better team than the Eagles next season.

I wish I could get all superior and criticize all the whiners but I can't. I did the same thing my sophomore year in high school. Things looked up later.
    Good luck AR.

Good to see the housecleaning is continuing (without Lurie having to lift a finger!)

And just what "quality" is Britt Reid going to "control"?

I don't care who you are and I believe in giving breaks for sure, but hiring your felon sons, guilty of possessing steroids, and weapons... in a league known to have major problems with both... is absolutely stupid and insane!

I mean really. I was as bad as anyone else in high school, and straightened up later on, but this is beyond that... These kids were/are bad, and now they are (Britt anyway) in a position of influence over young athletes. Reformed or not... that just looks bad. The fact that the other side died of an OD... wow... colossally poor management decisions.

Later FA. We don't miss you.
