Shawn Andrews is on his way to Los Angeles, presumably to have his injured back re-examined by Dr. Robert Watkins.

"Well Philly I'm going away now so I can try to get this back right....," Andrews wrote on his Twitter page. He later indicated his destination was Los Angeles.

Watkins performed surgery on Andrews' back last October.

Andrews, who was injured in Week 2 last season, was placed on injured reserve last Tuesday when he was deemed unhealthy enough to play. He underwent an MRI exam last Monday.

Andrews tweaked his back during the fitness run at the start of training camp and did not play in the preseason. He had delcared himself ready to play before the opener, then suffered another setback.

In other news, the St. Louis Rams confirmed that they have signed wide receiver Danny Amendola off the Eagles' practice squad. Amendola, who presumably would have little chance to get on the roster and play given the Eagles' depth at wide receiver, joins a relatively thin group of receivers. He could also help return punts. Amendola will be at Rams' practice tomorrow.

Amendola signed with the Eagles during last year's playoffs from the Cowboys. He showed good moves and hands in the preseason.

That opening might explain the arrival of former Penn State receiver Jordan Norwood for a workout. Norwood said he was on his way to Philadelphia via his Twitter page. Norwood was with the Browns until the final roster cutdown, as an undrafted free agent.

Todd Haley addressesd the media in Kansas City today for his weekly news conference and did not exactly provide a ringing endorsement for $60 million man Matt Cassel at quarterback.

Haley was asked if he could envision a scenario in which Cassel was not the starter and Brodie Coyle was. Coyle started Week 1 when Cassel was injured.

“I wouldn’t speculate on that," he said. "There were a lot of positives in Matt’s performance. There are a few we would like to have back obviously. I believe that a quarterback in a game has seven critical decisions – combined key plays in a game of 79 plays last week or whatever it was – that really separate winning and losing. There were clearly seven in this game where we would like to do something different.

“But that being said, I like a lot about this guy. Anybody watching can see the competitiveness. Here’s a guy who’s injured that was not running with that thought in his mind. He added 34 yards of rushing to our game and when you do that it’s pretty positive.

“With Matt we just need to keep chopping wood. That being said, I’m excited about Brodie’s progress. I think Brodie getting to play in the first game got his feet under him and started to gain some confidence. I think that was clear in this past week’s practice and I expect all those guys to improve every week. That’s their job and my job is to get our quarterbacks better.”

There has to be a better explanation than tweaking your back during a fitness run.

When the dogs that were hang by it neck by a nylon cord over a 2 x 4 refused to die from hanging, Vick (wearing a pair of overalls so he would not get blood from the dogs on his tailored suits) drowned the dogs in a 5 gallon bucket of water. When Some of his co-conspirators wanted to give away dogs who would not fight rather than kill them. Michael Vick stated "THEY GOT TO GO", meaning "THEY NEEDED TO BE KILLED. Michael Vick does not give 2nd chances.

when he gets there hopefully he'll stay there. He is the biggest joke that has ever happened to the eagles! Just wait for the lawsuit to come against the eagles and the doctor-instead of operating on his back the doctor should have done some brain surgery. Like his brother said about his own back trouble-it was because of not being in shape. More people tweat their backs on the toilet then a condtioning run.

Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. He, his wife Barbara, and their two sons live in Haddon Township, New Jersey.

You can now follow Les Bowen on Twitter.

Paul DomowitchPaul Domowitch has been with the Daily News since 1982. He has spent most of his 27 years at the paper covering the Eagles and pro football. For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo came to the Daily News from the Fort Worth (Tx.) Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually wa s boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose two sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football. Domo and his wife Shelley, a University of Oklahoma grad and very dangerous to be around following a Sooner loss, have been married 29 years and have raised 2 terrific daughters – Allison, 26, a lawyer and graduate of Boston University School of Law; and Amy, 23, who graduated from Clemson and works in marketing and sales for a professional baseball team.
