Andrews doesn't practice with sore back

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Former Eagles offensive lineman Shawn Andrews did not practice today due to a sore back.

Andrews played the last two games for the Giants at left tackle. He was especially impressive against the Cowboys’ DeMarcus Ware.

The Eagles released Andrews in May when they became convinced that his 2-year battle with back injuries would continue to plague him. The Giants signed him in during training camp in August.

Andrews also was known for his outlandish appearance, a bizarre video and his admitted bout with depression.

He indicated to the (ital) New York Post (end ital) on Sunday that, during the 2009 season, he battled a drinking problem and contemplated suicide, in part because of the pressure he felt as an Eagle.

He also said he expects to be booed when he returns to Philadelphia on Sunday night.

Andrews did not make himself available to the media.
