Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is inactive today against the Redskins, which isn't a big surprise, since he has been the third QB this week. More surprising is that 2011 first-round pick Danny Watkins also is a healthy scratch. Watkins lost his starting right guard job to Jake Scott, but he has at least been in uniform the past several weeks.

Also inactive are WR Greg Salas, RB Chris Polk, DE Darryl Tapp, and OL Matt Kopa.

Emil Igwenagu will start at fullback, in his second NFL game.

Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters Friday that even though Jake Scott has taken 2011 first-round draft pick Danny Watkins' right guard spot for the remainder of the season, Watkins still has promise and can be an NFL starter in the future.

Reid said Watkins' slide started with his high ankle sprain, which led to the signing of Scott, a 31-year-old, savvy veteran who seems to have helped inexperienced linemates such as center Dallas Reynolds and right tackle Dennis Kelly.

"He let another guy in," Reid said. "He'll have another opportunity to get in ... He's a good football player."

The Eagles can't avoid the inevitable issue of Andy Reid's presumed last home game Sunday after 14 years of coaching the team. They'd like to avoid it -- Reid said Wednesday he hasn't "gone there," and running back LeSean McCoy, when asked Thursday, first declared that he wasn't "thinking like that."

But it bothers Reid's players that he is taking the fall for all of the disappointments of the past few seasons. McCoy said he feels that blame is miscast.

"If you sat here and tried to name 5 to 8 coaches that's better than coach Reid, I would like to hear it," McCoy said. "Coach Reid's a good coach. He gets blamed for everything. Sometimes you break down the film, break down the plays and the mistakes, how do you fault the coach for that?"

After practicing Wednesday as a starter for this weekend's game against the Washington Redskins, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy dismissed the idea that he might have just sat out these final two weeks to make sure he's OK going forward, following the concussion McCoy suffered against Washington Nov. 18.

"I don't live like that," said McCoy, who said he felt "real rusty" in his return to the practice field. "Just like the play when I got hurt -- people blame coach (Andy Reid) for it, but I wanted to be in there (during the final minutes with the game out of reach). So, I'll finish the season out, hopefully.

Asked why he would want to play now, with the Eagles eliminated from postseason consideration, McCoy said:" "Why would I want to play? Why wouldn't I want to play? They pay me to play this game. I love to play this game, so why wouldn't I play?"

Eagles coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that LeSean McCoy will start Sunday against the Redskins in his return from a concussion. There had been speculation that the Eagles might sit McCoy for the final two games to guard against reinjury.

"When you're healthy, you play," Reid said. He indicated that McCoy agreed.

Reid also announced that the starting shot Colt Anderson has earned won't be at the expense of Kurt Coleman, the safety Anderson replaced the past two games while Coleman recovered from a sternum injury. Reid said Anderson will take Nate Allen's spot.

Michael Vick returned to Eagles practice Monday and addressed reporters for the first time since he was sidelined by a concussion Nov. 11 against Dallas.

Vick said he would embrace the opportunity to help rookie Nick Foles, designated the starter the rest of the way for the 4-10 Eagles by head coach Andy Reid.

"That's just the way things are right now," he said, when asked about not being the starter, perhaps ever again here. "I have to roll with the punches and deal with it, make the most of it, continue to work hard, try to get better, continue to help Nick out, continue to help (backup Trent Edwards), continue to help this football team, do my job as a leader ... regardless if I'm the starter or the third-string quarterback."
