Danlands: I've never committed a felony. I am morally superior to Michael Vick. If I were to commit bank fraud in my current position, you can bet I would not be able to become a CFO. THIS WAS NOT A ONE TIME MISTAKE! propitbull
It is clear to me now there is nothing that one person can do to be banned from the NFL. I think that if OJ Simpson had been of playing age he would have been reinstated the day after the not guilty verdict. sockmnky
Comment removed.- From a football perspective I don't know if this was a great move. Vick is 29 years old, who relies primarily on his athletic skills to QB. These skills are probably going to start to deteriorate in the next couple of year. I haven't heard one commentator on ESPN or NFL bring this up. I hope Vick is able to provide a positive service to the community and if it is by being a Philadelphia eagle I support the move from that aspect.
thomas paine ... okay then, let's take out Vick's 44.2% rookie year if we are doing that. His career completion % is now higher than Eli Manning's. Vick is 38-28-1 all time ... with the Falcons. 2-2 in the playoffs. 0-2 vs. the Eagles, 2-0 vs. everyone else. With the Falcons! A horrible team. Eli Manning ... 42-29 all time. 4-3 in the playoffs. 0-2 vs. Philly. 4-1 vs. everyone else. On the Giants. a Very good team. All things considered, Michael Vick has been a better QB for a worse team than Manning. First you wanted to use completion % to determine a QB's worth, now you want to use Super Bowl rings. What's next? Whichever one plays for the Giants? njjeff73
For just $1.6M we get potentially the best "wildcat" player around. If he pans out, we keep him or trade him for a 5th rounder. Jaws and Massinelli have it all wrong -- this deal has NOTHING to do with lighting a fire under McNabb or finding a replacement for next year if McNabb doesn't perform. Everybody knows Kolb and Feeley, too, can run the Eagles offense better than Vick ever will. Yes, Vick played in a west coast offense for Atlanta... but the comments from every expert back then were to the effect that the west coast was not the right fit for a QB like Vick. The only downside is the reaction from fans and others against hiring a convicted felon who did repulsive things, but he paid his debt and deserves a chance at pursuing his profession. And a chance at redemption, which is why Reid is on board -- the issue resonates with him 'cuz of his sons, and Tony Dung's presense as Vick's mentor makes Reid feel good about doing it. Lurie signed off. They'll deal with the protests. We get to put in a set of "wildcat" plays that might actually help the offense. End of story. Richard S
YES---if any of you angry people want to give up your tickets please do so quickly -- that'll send a message and it will give me a chance to get some really nice seats. BizMark
njjeff73, I do not care if he was a clone of Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas or Otto Graham. This is a man who hanged dogs from trees, electrocuted them with jumper cables, held them underwater until they drowned in his swimming pool, and even threw his own family dogs into the fighting pit to be torn to shreds while he laughed. How about we let Vick put you in a "rape stand"? AGAIN, anyone who is not repulsed by this signing and only considers how many games it will help the Eagles win further fuels the image of the uneducated, moronic Philadelphia fan. You embarrass me and every other fan with a conscience. thomas paine
If Vick would have never been caught, he would still be killing and torturing innocent animals. hguerriero
thomas paine .... What do you mean you do not care? YOU are the one who said it was a bad signing because he is a 55% QB. Just because you were embarassed in trying to defend that statement, doesn't mean .... oh wait ... yeah, I guess it does mean you can try and change the subject. Go right ahead. Continue. njjeff73
hguerriero ... .thank God they caught him then and made him spend 18 months in prison and relinquish over $100 million. Phew njjeff73

all you defenders of Vick using the argument, give him a second chance, he paid his debt to society are morons. Everyone is entitled to forgiveness and the right to earn a living, that doesn't mean an organization has to sign him. Look at Barry Bonds, he still had some baseball in the tank - did anyone sign him after the Giants cut ties? If you killed dogs and your company found about it, would they hire you back? You can't force corporations to take on the risks of bad publicity and having a divisive clubhouse just because you think that killing dogs is not as bad as DUI's and killing humans etc. SantaClausBooer1
njjeff My advice to you is to grab both of your ears firmly and remove your head from your southern most orifice. We signed a convicted felon who failed a drug test while he was awaiting sentencing and you want to argue about completion %. Let's try this AGAIN, anyone who is not repulsed by this signing and only considers how many games it will help the Eagles win further fuels the image of the uneducated, moronic Philadelphia fan. You embarrass me and every other fan with a conscience. AGAIN, YOU are the reason WE are portrayed as uneducated, moronic fans. thomas paine
