The Eagles interviewed Bears defensive backs coach Jon Hoke about their defensive coordinator position today, the team confirmed.
Hoke is in his second year with the Chicago Bears.
He spent seven years coaching defensive backs with the Houston Texans. Fox Sports first reported earlier today that the Eagles had asked the Bears' permission to talk with Hoke.
NFL Network reported that the Eagles were denied permission to talk to Dolphins assistant coach/secondary coach Todd Bowles and Bengals defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle.
A source close to the situation has said the team plans to interview at least one coach from the Super Bowl staffs, who can’t be approached until after Sunday’s game.
As we contemplate who from the Super Bowl staffs might be on the agenda, it’s hard not to notice that everybody interviewed so far has coached defensive backs.
The Eagles hired a respected defensive line coach, Jim Washburn, two weeks ago. It seems clear they are looking to the new coordinator to fix the back end of their unit, which allowed a franchise-record 31 touchdown passes this season.
What other defensive backs coaches could be in the mix here? Well, there is Darren Perry of the Packers, who coaches safeties, and Joe Whitt, Jr., who coaches corners. The Steelers have Ray Horton in charge of d-backs.
The Eagles announced that there will be no ticket price increase for the 2011 season.
The team has had one price increase over the past four years. Last year, the average ticket price for an Eagles game ranked 20th in the NFL, the team said.
“As ticket prices across sports and entertainment continue to rise, we have done our best to be sensitive to the frequency and amount of increases for Philadelphia Eagles tickets,” said Joe Banner, President of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The team also announced a ticket refund policy for general admission seats, allowing fans to receive full refunds for any game not played due to a work stoppage in 2011.
Season ticket holders may receive refunds in the form of credit toward future games or direct reimbursement in the form used to pay for tickets. Refunds will include interest from the due date of the final payment.
