Police are investigating a shooting in the Castor section of Northeast Philadelphia that left one man dead and a teen hospitalized Thursday night.
Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said an 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and was taken by medics to Aria-Torresdale Hospital in extremely critical condition.
Police are seeking suspects in two separate armed robberies in one Wissinoming market and have released video hoping the public can help with track down the suspects.
This week, a suspect entered the Lisa & Charlie Market, on Torresdale Avenue near Comly, at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday and grabbed a female employee from behind. He put the employee in a chokehold and held a black gun with polished wood grips to her chest. The female grabbed the weapon and the suspect struggled with her to recover the gun.
The employee was able to wrestle the firearm from the suspect, who fled from the store. He was seen running east on Higbee Street and south on Vandike Street.
Philadelphia police have charged a 21-year-old man with the June 18 murder of a North Philly bodega owner.
Darnell Griffin, of Francis Street near North 17th, was arrested on Sunday, police said.
Griffin and two other punks allegedly marched inside Los Ingenitos Grocery store, at 9th and York streets, and tried to pull a robbery the day before Father's Day.
Two women who got involved in a street fight between two brothers got stabbed - one fatally - when one brother's girlfriend showed up at the scene in Southwest Philadelphia swinging a knife, police say.
The fight broke out just before 11:30 p.m. on Upland Street near 60th, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said. As the brothers brawled, one called his girlfriend, who arrived and began fighting a 22-year-old neighbor and a third bystander, Little said. The neighbor, who was stabbed in the side, died at 7:16 a.m. today at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. The other woman was cut in the forearm and remains in treatment at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania.
Investigators know the suspected stabber's identity and are seeking her to arrest her, Little said.
An argument over a woman led one man to shoot another to death in Point Breeze early today.
The dispute erupted just after midnight, when a 20-year-old man got in a dispute with his sister's live-in boyfriend at 21st and Morris streets, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said. The boyfriend shot the brother once in the head and then fled, Little said. The brother died at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania at 12:45 a.m., she added. Police know the identity of the suspected gunman and are scrambling to find and arrest him now.
Police are searching for four men in connection with an armed robbery from last Thursday in Southwest Philadelphia.
The men walked into the Adelphia Pizza restaurant on Baltimore Avenue near 56th Street at about 10:45 p.m. and demanded money, police said. The suspects took the victims into a lounge near the back of the restaurant and robbed them of their cell phones and wallets. Police said the men fled the scene with about $1,100 in cash.
Less than 10 minutes later, the men used the stolen credit cards to buy gas at a Lukoil station on Baltimore Avenue, about two blocks from the restaurant, police said.
Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a shooting in Feltonville that left a man hospitalized with a bullet wound to his arm and back.
The 21-year-old victim was sitting on a porch on 4th Street near Roosevelt Boulevard at about 10 p.m. when a man wearing a blue button down shirt, jeans and a yellow Polo hat walked up and shot him, police said.
The man was shot once in the back of his left arm, and the bullet traveled into his back police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
A man is in critical condition after being shot at least twice by police Monday night in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia.
Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers from the 25th District were on patrol near a Hess Gas Station at 5th Street and Lehigh Avenue when they saw a man firing several shots at another man.
“When the officers pulled up to the Hess parking lot, the man was still firing shots at the other man,” Small said.
