Last month, 13-year-old Brandon Boyle drowned while swimming in Pennypack Creek near a waterfall off of Roosevelt Boulevard near Winchester Avenue. Police at the time of his death warned that the city's creeks are particularly dangerous after heavy rainfall like this morning's thunderstorms.

Over the years, Pennypack Creek and others in the city have been the scenes of numerous drownings.
