A 47-year-old man has been arrested in a 2012 homicide in which firefighters found the body of a man inside a burning building in Kensington, police said Wednesday.

James Clark was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder, arson, causing catastrophe, possession of an instrument of crime and related offenses, court records showed. Police said Clark confessed to detectives that he set a fire in a second-floor apartment on Madison Street near Emerald in Kensington around 9 p.m. Dec. 28, 2012.

When firefighters extinguished the blaze, police said, they found the victim, 51-year-old Yuri Moskovkina, dead in the bathroom inside his second-floor apartment. A police spokeswoman on Wednesday said no motive was listed on police paperwork. It was unclear exactly how Moskovkina was killed.

Clark was denied bail at an arraignment early Wednesday morning and scheduled to face a preliminary hearing Nov. 22.
