UPDATED, Tuesday, 6:40 p.m., by Stephanie Farr:
Special Victims Unit investigators are still trying to figure out what happened to a 22-year-old woman who was found with significant injuries and without shoes or pants on in an Olney park Monday night.
The victim was found wandering and disoriented around 7:50 p.m. in Fisher Park on 7th Street near Nedro Avenue, police said. She was suffering from multiple injuries, including several facial fractures and a severe skull fracture, said SVU Capt. John Darby. He said it's not clear yet if she was sexually assaulted but added that the case was given to SVU because of her state of undress when she was found.
The woman was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she underwent surgery, Darby said. As of yesterday afternoon, police had not had a chance to interview her because she was under sedation, he said.
A passerby called 9-1-1 after spotting a seriously injured woman in Fisher Park near 7th Street and Nedro Avenue in Olney about 8 Monday night.
Police said the victim suffered a head injury and other injuries, the extent of which weren’t immediately known. It was unclear how the woman suffered her injuries. Anyone with information can contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3180.
