Police identified a man gunned down outside a West Philadelphia market last night as Joseph Pinkney, 40, of Rockwell Avenue near Bleigh in Burholme.

Police identified a man gunned down outside a West Philadelphia market last night as Joseph Pinkney, 40, of Rockwell Avenue near Bleigh in Burholme.

Pinkney died of a chest wound at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at 8:38 p.m., about 40 minutes after the shooting at 51st and Race streets. Police reported no suspects or motive. Tipsters can call homicide detectives at (215) 686-3334 or -3335.
