West Philly murder pushes 2012 homicide count to 30

POSTED: Wednesday, January 25, 2012, 6:24 PM

A man shot in the abdomen in West Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon was able to stagger half a block before he collapsed on the street and was rushed to the hospital.

Police said the 23-year-old victim was sitting in a brown Jeep Cherokee on Arch Street near 56th at 2:30 p.m. when he was shot once. He left the vehicle and made it about half a block down Frazier Street toward Market before collapsing.

Medics rushed the man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. His slaying happened within minutes of an apparent murder-suicide in the city’s Logan section, bringing the year’s homicide count to 30 in 25 days.

We get the criminal justice system that our drug dealers pay for.

I'm guessing that all of our outrage over these senseless killings has fallen on deaf ears. I myself have given up. Let the blood flow .... I mean who really cares about the dead and their loved ones.

Let me guess... Nobody heard the shot. Right?

Before, most of these murders would occur between 10pm, and 4 or 5 in the early morning. What is disturbing with this year, is that they are now happening around the clock. Most of these drug vermin and killers don't even wake up until about 3pm, feral beasts that they are. Now, we are seeing a new pattern. Before this year, if someone wanted to stay alive, they could stay indoors after 8 or 9pm. Now....Philly is a free fire zone with new records for murders.

OK, and you know from this short article who it was and what he was doing right!! Oh, let me guess he must be a drug dealer being shot in West Philly.

Why are the homicide numbers are lower on the police website than in this article? I guess somebody is cooking the books.

I hate to say, but I think this city needs some new residents. People with fresh new attitudes towards life because the people currently living in this city just don't give a #$^*#^. Push the miserable people somewhere else

It can't last forever. At this rate there will be no one left to murder pretty soon. And Mayhor Urkel and his decorated police chief can take all of the credit.

We're on track for 37 homicides in January alone. Let's not wait until July when we're sure to exceed 50 murders. Call in the National Guard now! If not, we'll easily come close to 500 deaths this year.
