Philadelphia Water Department workers made a gruesome discovery in the Schuylkill late Monday morning.

Police said workers were skimming the water near I-76 and Walnut Street and found partial remains of what appeared to be a woman's body in the water just south of the east side of the Walnut Street bridge.

The woman's age, identity and how long she had been in the water were unknown Monday afternoon.
