Violent overnight: Shootings leave four wounded, one dead
One person was dead and four others were hospitalized after a violent night in Philadelphia that had cops throughout the city investigating five separate shootings that happened within about two hours.

The violence kicked off around 11:30 p.m. when a 19-year-old man was shot once in his face under his right eye and once in his back while on Cecil B. Moore Avenue near 17th Street in North Philadelphia. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition, and no arrests were made in the shooting.
About a half-hour later, cops said, a 22-year-old man was shot up to 10 times at 23rd and Mifflin streets in South Philadelphia. That victim was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and investigators were working to sort out the circumstances that led to that slaying.
Minutes after that man was fatally shot, in Frankford, a 33-year-old man was wounded in the back during a shooting in an apartment driveway on Leiper Street near Overington. Police were unsure what motivated that gunfire.
About an hour later, just after 1 a.m., another man was shot in Frankford about a mile northeast of the Leiper Street shooting scene, cops said. In that incident, an 18-year-old man was shot once in the right thigh and taken to Aria Health's Frankford hospital in stable condition.
A couple minutes after that, back in North Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section, a 33-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting at Diamond and Natrona streets, police said. That man suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and face and was found to be in possession of a weapon at the time of his shooting, according to cops, so he was being held as a prisoner while being treated at Temple University Hospital.
Investigators said a prior incident on the block sparked that shooting, but that preliminarily, it appeared the man shot hadn't pulled his gun.
That man remained in critical condition Thursday evening, a department spokeswoman said. So far, police have not announced arrests in any of the overnight shootings.
