Two wounded in separate shootings in Olney

Police are investigating a pair of shootings in Olney that left a 19-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman hospitalized Monday evening.

The man was found slumped over on a blood-spattered couch in the first floor living room of a house on Linton Street near 2nd just before 6 p.m., police said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of his head and was taken by police to the Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the man was in extremely critical condition as of 7:15 p.m.

Two men, ages 17 and 19, we're inside the house at the time of the shooting but did not see the shooting, police said. They were taken in for questioning at the Northwest Detective Division on Broad and Champlost streets.

The victim does not live in the house where the shooting occurred, police said, and authorities were unsure of the relationship between the victim and the men who were taken in for questioning.

Detectives were awaiting a warrant to search the house around 7 p.m. while neighbors watched from their porches.

As police were preparing to search the house on Linton Street, cops were leaving the corner of Champlost and 4th Street, where a 22-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her stomach around 5:30 p.m.

Medics took her to the Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition Monday evening.

It was unclear whether the woman was targeted or an innocent bystander, Small said.

Police were unsure of the motives behind the shootings, and detailed descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.
