Two teen boys shot in Frankford

POSTED: Monday, August 20, 2012, 11:22 PM

Two teenage boys were wounded in a shooting in Frankford Monday night, police said.

The victims, both 17, were sitting on a front stoop on Ditman Street near Scattergood at 10:35 p.m. when they were shot, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. One suffered a through-and-through wound to the left foot and the other was grazed in the underarm, Small said.

Both were taken to Aria Health's Torresdale hospital and listed in stable condition.

The boys told police they did not know who shot them, investigators said, but described the shooter as a 16 or 17-year-old boy who is thin and wore a black shirt. He was last seen running north on Ditman. Police said the teens told them they don't know why they were shot, so cops are unsure what motivated the crime.

Small said the door of the house the boys were in front of was struck by gunfire and the siding on the house next door was damaged by three bullets. Cops found two projectiles at the scene, including one that fell out of the sock of the victim who was shot in the foot when medics tended to him at the scene.

Police remained at the scene investigating shortly after 11 p.m.

There's no stopping these people. All you can do is move farther away from them.

The key word in this story is Frankford. It is one of the largest drug strong holds in the state. Most of these shootings are directly related to drug trafficking. As a long suffering member of this community I can assure you that at night time , almost every night we hear shoots, and we have learned to close our businesses at dusk. I am not bringing this up to be hurtful, just to make a point. Section 8 and project low income housing isn't working. There is no neighborhood fabric left in once proud and beautiful Frankford.

That part of East Frankford, bordering Wissinoming, has been on a steady decline for 5-8 years now...home invasion where the homeowner got the drop on the invaders(righteous kill), last year-one block away, daylight murder on Bridge Street last year-one block away, robbers assault storeowner last week-one block away, barber murdered on Bridge Street 2 years ago-two blocks away, drug sales every 5 minutes...2,4,6,8 doors away. Walk a block to Harbison Avenue, get hit by a speeding car.Go to 7 Eleven, get panhandled by at least 4 homeless. What happened here?

This is why, despite what my church tries to tell me what to think, I am for planned parenthood and even abortion. I would even go so far as say you must be on birth control just to receive welfare. The money spent now will save hundreds of times that in the future.

Are you talking about some white family that you are familiar with ? White people make up the majority of welfare recipients.
