Men shot fabricate story about attempted robbery

Police said two men were shot during an attempted robbery in North Philly Tuesday afternoon.

Two men who were each shot in the leg in North Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon initially told police that two other men had shot them during an attempted robbery. But cops said their story didn't quite check out.

After interviewing a witness, police determined that their story was fabricated, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Small said the witness told police that the 26-year-old victim, who was shot in his right leg, shot the 20-year-old victim in the left leg.

Cops aren't sure how the 26-year-old man earned his gunshot wound in the incident, which happened on Van Pelt Street near Susquehanna Avenue at 4:39 p.m.

The 20-year-old victim was taken to Temple University Hospital by medics, and the 26-year-old was taken there by private vehicle, Small said. Both were listed in stable condition.
