An "execution style" shooting in Olney has left one man dead and another clinging to life tonight, police said.
Just before 8 p.m., officers from the 35th District responded to a call for a car on fire on Palethorp Street near Olney Avenue, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
Both men had been shot in the head. One victim, 25, was shot once in the back of the head and pronounced dead at the scene at 8:03 p.m. His death marks the 40th homicide for the city in 2014, according to police records.
The other victim — who hasn’t been identified by police, but is believed to be in his mid-30s — was shot twice in the head and taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in “extremely critical condition,” Small said.
"It's not clear whether he'll survive," Small said.
Evidence on the scene shows that the shots were either fired from within the car or from a short distance away, Small said.
No information on a motive or suspect is available, and witnesses are being interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives.
