Two men hospitalized in N. Philly shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in North Philadelphia that left two men, ages 18 and 24, hospitalized Wednesday night.

Police are investigating a shooting in North Philadelphia that left two men, ages 18 and 24, hospitalized Wednesday night.

Shots rang out around 6:57 p.m. on Taney Street near Girard Avenue, police said. A 24-year-old man was shot once in his back and was taken by private auto to Hahnemann Hospital. He was listed in critical condition as of 8 p.m.

The 19-year-old man was wounded once in his buttocks and was taken by private auto to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Cops said the wounded man fit the description of the suspect and would be interviewed in the hospital.

There were no witnesses, no weapons were recovered from the scene and police were unsure of the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Authorities were searching the area for surveillance cameras which may have recorded the incident.
