Two men are in critical condition after being shot late Wednesday night in what appeared to be a drug-related incident in West Philadelphia, police said.

The men were shot around 11:40 p.m. on Pennsgrove Street near 41st Street in West Philadelphia.

A 29-year-old man was shot three times in his chest and was taken by private vehicle to Presbyterian Hospital. He was later transferred to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

A 16-year-old boy was also shot three times. He was wounded once in his chest and twice in his stomach, police said.

The boy was taken by medics to the Hosptial of the University of Pennsylvania.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said police on the scene found a large sandwich bag containing seven smaller plastic bags full of a green leafy substance they believed was marijuana.

Small said the street value of each of the smaller plastic bags was between five and 10 dollars each.

Police said there were no witnesses to the shooting, and no arrests were made.

A violent shootout over seven little bags. Who said pot was not a dangerous drug? That kid had no business peddling pot two hours after curfew. Oh! I forgot! No curfew in the 'hood.
