Turn in guns, get $100 gift cards

City Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez and the 24th and 25th police districts are teaming up to host a gun buy back event Saturday at the Lauretha Vaird Boys and Girls Club on Whitaker Avenue near Loudon Street.

Anyone who turns in a firearm between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. will receive a $100 gift card, or a $100 food voucher.

The 25th District encompasses parts of Hunting Park and Kensington, neighborhoods that have some of highest numbers of shootings in the city, noted Capt. Frank Vanore, the commander of the district.
