Triple shooting in West Philly

A drive-by-shooting in West Philadelphia earlier tonight left one man dead and two others wounded.

The mayhem started to unfold shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Olive Street near 49th, where an unknown number of shooters opened fire from inside a black Buick Regal, said Officer Tanya Little, a police spokeswoman.

A 28-year-old man was wounded once in the arm, and admitted to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The second victim, a 20-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound at nearby 50th Street and Haverford Avenue. He died at HUP a short while later, Little said.

A third victim, a 19-year-old man, was wounded in the leg and admitted to Mercy Hospital in stable condition, Little said. The shooters are still on the loose. Tipsters can contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or -3335.
