Three hospitalized in Wednesday night shootings

Police are investigating two shootings that left three people hospitalized Wednesday night.

About 10:20 p.m., a 38-year-old man was shot in his lower back on 25th Street near Thompson in North Philadelphia.

Police took the man to Hahnemann University Hospital and said he was listed in stable condition early Thursday.

Just before 11 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in his right shoulder on 50th Street near Florence Avenue in West Philadelphia.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the victim appeared to have been wounded by shotgun fire.

The victim told police three men fled on bicycles and were last seen pedaling west on Springfield Avenue.

Medics took the man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was listed in stable condition early Thursday.

No arrests were made.
