A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested for allegedly robbing and assaulting a 72-year-old man inside of a carryout restaurant in Germantown, police announced Friday.

Tyrell Langford, of East Germantown, is facing robbery, theft and assault charges — among others — and is being held on $50,000 bail in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, according to court documents.

About 5:30 p.m. on June 29, Langford and his teenaged accomplice stood by as a 72-year-old man waited for his order at the restaurant on Chelten Avenue near Knox Street.

A surveillance camera recorded one of the suspects knocking the elderly man to the ground. They stole the man’s wallet and ran away while he lied facedown and motionless on the floor of the restaurant.

Police did not disclose the identity of Langford’s juvenile accomplice, but said they were both arrested on the same charges.

They’re scheduled to appear in court on July 17, according to court documents.
