A 16-year-old boy was taken to Temple University Hospital after he was shot in the ankle Wednesday night on Broad Street near Roosevelt Boulevard about 8 p.m.
The boy suffered a graze wound, and was listed in stable condition as of 9:30 p.m., police Chief inspector Scott Small said. He added that a large group of teens were gathered in the area when officers arrived.
The victim was being interviewed by police in the hospital while two of his friends were being questioned. A description of the suspect was not immediately available and no arrests were made.
Investigators from the East Division Shooting Investigation Unit estimated that there was a crowd of about 100 kids gathered when the incident occured. An officer said police don't yet have any suspects or descriptions because of the size of the crowd.
