A 16-year-old girl faces charges of reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child after her 6-month-old baby was found unconscious in a tub of water Sunday night.

Medics responded to a home on Pennsgrove Street near 52nd Street in West Philadelphia at about 10 p.m., and rushed the boy to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition.

The girl left her child unattended in the bathroom and returned to find him underwater, police said.

Police didn't disclose her identity because she is a juvenile.

Officials in the Special Victims Unit Tuesday said the boy remains hospitalized, but is expected to recover.
