A teenage boy died at the hospital early Monday night after he was shot several times in South Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood in broad daylight.

Cops said the victim, who would have turned 17 next week, was sitting on a stoop on 19th Street near Federal at 3:20 p.m. when someone opened fire on him, hitting him in the left side of his head, the right side of his chest and the left thigh. Police rushed him to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.

Spent shell casings littered the block just north of Federal Street and just south, where police believe the victim was sitting when he was shot. A small pool of blood stained the sidewalk at the bottom of the stoop where investigators said responding officers found the victim lying.

As of 5:30 p.m., detectives had not found any witnesses to the midday fatal shooting.

No arrests have been made.
