Subway transformer catches fire, SEPTA employee hospitalized
A SEPTA employee was hospitalized after an underground transformer caught fire in University City early Tuesday morning.
At about 2 a.m. four fire engines and two ladders responded to the blaze on Market Street near 32nd and officials were still working to extinguish the fire shortly after 3 a.m.
The SEPTA employee suffered minor burns to both hands and was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital in stable condition, fire officials said.
