A 30-year-old man was taken to Temple University Hospital after being shot five times on Diamond Street near 30th in Strawberry Mansion Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The victim was wounded twice in his left leg, twice in his right side and once in his chest, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The man was sitting on the steps outside of his house when the shots were fired, police said. Eight .40 caliber shell casings were found on the scene.

Police took the man to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of 5:15 p.m.

Two witnesses were taken to speak with police in the Central Detective Division following the shooting, Small said.

A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately available and police were unsure of the shooter's motive.
