Stranger than fiction: Kensington's "Crack Tomb" (photos)

There’s plenty to see in the shadows of the Market-Frankford El tracks that’ll make you look twice, but the Daily News about two weeks ago spotted something that stopped us dead in our tracks – Kensington’s “Crack Tomb,” formerly the “Crack Crib.”

There's plenty to see in the shadows of the Market-Frankford El tracks that'll make you look twice, but the Daily News about two weeks ago spotted something that stopped us dead in our tracks – Kensington's "Crack Tomb," formerly the "Crack Crib."

The building on Front Street near Susquehanna Avenue – which appears abandoned but has a spray-painted sign suggesting otherwise – first popped onto our radar Aug. 8. A few days later, we revisited the crib and noticed they'd posted hours (see photos).

Last week, a Daily News reporter made a third trip only to find the sign painted over. But apparently new management took over a few days later, and fresh paint appeared earlier this week -- this time boasting the place as the "Crack Tomb."

What's the deal with this place? We're not sure yet. Each time the DN has visited, we haven't spotted anyone coming or going or caught the spray-paint artists in action. But each visit made for a hell of an interesting photo.
