POSTED: Friday, October 12, 2012, 1:35 PM

A 21-year-old man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his chest after being shot on Titan Street near 5th in Southwark Friday morning, police said.

Shots were fired just before 11 a.m. and the victim was taken to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition early Friday afternoon.

A detailed description of the suspect and information on the shooter’s motive was not immediately available.

The incident was the second shooting to take place in the city Friday morning.

A 31-year-old suspect in an attempted armed robbery was hospitalized after the owner of the store he was trying to rob in West Philadelphia shot him around 8:20 a.m.

The store owner should be a hero. I wish more store owners could do this, crime would be less.
