A man died Friday night after someone shot him in Feltonville, police said.

Just before 8 p.m., officers from the 25th District responding to a report of gunshots on Rockland Street near D found the victim, 21, lying between two parked cars, Capt. George Fuchs said.

The victim had been shot several times in the head and back and was pronounced dead at the scene about 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police that they saw a man with a thin build wearing a blue hoodie fleeing the scene shortly after the gunshots were heard. Those witnesses were being interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives Friday night.

No information on a motive was immediately available, Fuchs said.

The victim's identity was not released, but Fuchs said he does have a criminal record, with prior arrests for drug offenses.
