Disturbing video released by police shows a car plowing into a pizza deliveryman in Feltonville Wednesday afternoon and barely slowing down as the driver flees the scene.

Investigators are hoping that the video of the crash, which happened around 5 p.m. on Whitaker Avenue near Wyoming, helps them track down the driver of what they believe is a black Lincoln sedan, which continued northbound on Whitaker Avenue. The 45-year-old victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the man was working at the pizza shop at the corner and had walked out of the store, put food he was going to deliver down on the passenger side, and then walked around to the driver's side, where he was standing when he was hit.

The vehicle was traveling fast enough, Small said, that the victim ended up 50 feet north on Whitaker Avenue from where he'd been standing.

Police said the man suffered brain damage and will likely be taken off life support tomorrow.

"The sad thing is, he's a good guy," Small said. "Everybody in the neighborhood was vouching for him."
