Rita's Water Ice robbed at gunpoint, caught on camera

Police are searching for two men who robbed a Rita's Water Ice at gunpoint in Logan on Aug. 29.

Employees were closing the store on Belfield Avenue near Rockland Street when one of the workers was approached by two men outside the shop around 10 p.m., police said. When the employee noticed that one of the men was carrying a gun, she ran back inside the shop and the two men followed her inside.

When the men got inside the shop, one forced the employees to the ground while the other emptied the cash register, police said. The robbers ran away with an undisclosed amount of money, but were recorded on the store's surveillance system before they fled the scene.

The suspects are described as two black men in their late teens to early 20s. The gun-toting suspect is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, has a dark complexion and a medium build, police said. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweater with a New York Yankees logo on the sleeve, black basketball shorts and white sneakers. Police said the man was wearing the sweater inside out at the time of the robbery.

The second suspect also has a medium build and was wearing hooded sweater with black and white horizontal stripes, black shorts and black sneakers, police said.
