An additional $10,000 reward is being offered for the capture of those responsible for kidnapping a 5-year-old girl from a West Philadelphia school last week.
The NAACP of Philadelphia, black clergy members and other community leaders announced Wednesday that they’re offering the reward money. It is in addition to a $5,000 reward offered by the Fraternal Order of Police for an arrest in the case and an additional $5,000 offered by the Citizens Crime Commission for arrests and convictions of those wanted in the abduction.
Nelson Mandela Myers, the good Samaritan who found the little girl abandoned, half-dressed, at an Upper Darby playground nearly 24 hours after she was taken from Bryant Elementary at 60th Street and Cedar Avenue, was to receive a separate $10,000 reward initially offered by the Mayor’s Office for his role in the girl’s safe return.
The case has stymied investigators in the Special Victims Unit, who last Wednesday released descriptions of the woman who abducted the girl and her male accomplice. Detectives and officers flooded a target area around the school late last week in search of leads, and the case remains under investigation.
The woman who took the girl is described as black, in her late 20s, 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 8 and thin, with light, possibly green, eyes. She may be pregnant and wore a black head covering and niqab at the time of the abduction. Her accomplice is described as a man in his mid-30s, possibly white, with a light complexion and short brown hair.
Police have interviewed numerous people in the case, including the girl’s father, but have not determined any suspects.

What does "was" to receive the reward mean? He's not going to receive the reward now? Why?— LadySLR - The girl followed her "kidnapper" out of the school. Isn't this good enough to prove it was someone in her immediate family? You can hike the reward up to a million and still you won't find the kidnapper. It was clearly a ploy to extort some money from the school district that backfired. Dumb crooks.— DonQ
