Reports: Child, adult killed in Levittown apartment blaze

An unidentified adult and a young child were killed in an apartment fire in Levittown Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the blaze began in building 600 of the Avalon Court Apartments in the 3500 block of Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, the Bucks County Courier TImes reported. The child and the adult were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center, where they later died, according to CBS3.

Authorities have not revealed the name or gender of either victim, and there are conflicting reports about the age of the child. There is also no word on whether foul play is suspected.

The American Red Cross is assisting six people who were temporarily displaced by the fire, although the agency said they will likely be able to return tomorrow.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
