Police searching for suspect in attempted sexual assault

A 17-year-old girl was walking along Salmon Street near East Indiana Avenue in Port Richmond when she was approached by a man who tried to sexually assault her at knifepoint about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A 17-year-old girl was walking along Salmon Street near East Indiana Avenue in Port Richmond when she was approached by a man who tried to sexually assault her at knifepoint about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The man was last seen fleeing the scene on East Indiana Avenue toward Richmond Street, police said.

Officials released a sketch of the man who is wanted in connection with the incident.

Police described the suspect as a black man between 30 and 40 years old, who is about 6-feet-2 inches tall.

The man is muscular with a light beard and was wearing a black hooded sweater with a gold zipper down the front, blue jeans and dirty tan boots at the time of the incident, police said.
