Police searching for suspects in gunpoint carjacking

A man and woman robbed and carjacked two men in Crescentville early Sunday morning, police said.

Police are searching for two suspects who they say robbed and carjacked two men at gunpoint early Sunday morning in Crescentville.

The victims were sitting in a car outside a Wawa on Castor Avenue near Wyoming at 4:49 a.m., police said, when one suspect approached the driver's side and demanded a ride. After the driver refused, police said, the suspect pointed a handgun at the men and demanded their belongings.

The suspect then allegedly stole phones, jewelry, a jacket, an unknown amount of cash and the car. He and the second suspect, a woman who was with him at the time of the incident, fled north on Castor Avenue in the victim's car, a 1996 dark blue Toyota Corolla with tinted windows, police said.

Police released surveillance stills of the suspects inside the Wawa. One is described as a Hispanic man between 25 and 27 between 5 feet 10 and 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds who wore a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on it and gray or black sweatpants. The second is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic woman weighing 115 pounds who wore a dark gray jacket and blue jeans.

Tipsters should contact police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or the Northeast Detective Division at 215-686-3153 or 54.
