Police searching for armed robbery suspect

Police believe a man who robbed a Metro PCS store in Crescentville on July 29 is the same one who robbed a Metro PCS store in Northeast Philadelphia a week earlier.

Police believe a man who robbed a Metro PCS store in Crescentville on July 29 is the same one who robbed a Metro PCS store in Northeast Philadelphia a week earlier.

Officials are asking for help from the public to arrest the suspect, and have posted surveillance footage from both robberies online.

On July 22, a man walked into a Metro PCS and pointed a black handgun at an employee while he demanded money.  The man left the store on Bustleton Avenue near Glenview Street with $100 in cash, and fled on foot along Knorr Street, police said.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black man, who is between 50 and 60 years old, stands about 6-feet-tall, and weighs about 230 pounds. Police said the man had a salt and pepper beard.

On July 29, an armed robbery was reported at a Metro PCS store on in Crescentville.

Surveillance footage recorded a man matching the description of the suspect from the prior robbery as he approached and left the store.
