Police release surveillance video of attack on blind man in Germantown

Police yesterday released surveillance footage as they continue to search for a thug who was caught on camera brutally attacking a blind man.

Police yesterday released surveillance footage as they continue to search for a thug who was caught on camera brutally attacking a blind man.

The assault happened Oct. 2 shortly after 12 noon and was caught on a police department crime center camera. Police said the 33-year-old victim was walking east on Seymour towards Wayne when the attacker, who was standing at the corner, looked in the man's direction. When the victim reached the corner, the suspect struck him, knocking him to the ground, where the suspect continued to kick and stomp him as observers looked on.

After the assault, the suspect picked up his backpack and was last seen walking through a parking lot on Wayne Avenue toward Keyser Street. Police said he is described as a black male, 20 years old, bushy eyebrows, wearing a tan baseball cap, tan shirt, khaki pants and carrying a dark colored back pack. The video released yesterday shows the suspect inside a take-out store after the assault. His cap appears to have an eagle on it with a dark brim.

The victim suffered injuries to the face and head.
