Police probe morning homicide, sudden death

Police are investigating the deaths of two women this morning - a homicide in Olney and a sudden death in North Philadelphia.

In the earlier case, police found the body of a still-unidentified woman outside about 6 a.m. on Champlost Avenue near Front Street, said Officer Leeloni Palmiero, a police spokeswoman. The woman, estimated to be 25 to 40 years old, had been shot once in the head and was declared dead at the scene, Palmiero said.

A half hour later, police were called to Toronto Street near Broad, where a pregnant woman was found dead about 6:32 a.m.. Palmiero said. Her death is not considered suspicious, but detectives haven't determined what happened to her.
